President and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce

Good luck if you’re looking for Mark Yoder, President and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce (GWCCC). Depending on the day, the time and the season he might be at the Chamber office, or he could be out in the community hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Chamber member, serving as a guest speaker at a local business organization’s luncheon or talking to a new business owner in the greater West Chester area about the benefits of Chamber membership. Then again, he could be at Kelly Field. He’s been with the Chamber since 2007 serving as its president and CEO since 2012. Prior to working for the Chamber, he worked for Walt Disney World Company and in sports marketing for Lincoln Financial Group and Pepsi North America.

Mark is married to his beautiful wife Joanne, a West Chester Area School District reading specialist. They have three sons, John (10), Matthew (8) and Jackson (6). In addition to serving as coach/Pee-Wee director with the Little All-American Football Association (LAFA), Mark is a general manager for the PA Roughriders Lacrosse.

Although he never has spare time, this all-around athlete is an avid golfer.

What inspires you?

Members of the West Chester community work together like none I have been around. The Chamber has so many volunteer opportunities, and somehow we are able to always find people who are willing to help. I’ve asked for volunteers for the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic and had people say, “Just tell me when and where and I’m there.” This community support made me realize I needed to be more involved.

With three athletic boys, LAFA was easy because I have always been passionate for football. I felt this was an area where I could really get involved.

How do you maintain balance with so much on your plate?

Well, I ask my wife…I have a problem saying no when it comes to supporting my boys. With that being said, I really believe this is a great opportunity to support them, the community and the businesses that support us and West Chester. Sometimes I wonder where will I find the time, and sometimes I feel I don’t have the time. In the end, it all works out and I find the time and energy to make a difference.

I love the difference the Chamber is making in Central Chester County. We are focused on workforce advocacy, being a resource. We continue to support the community through the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic and the QVC West Chester Christmas Parade (which together have created over $700,000 in annual economic impact).

I love coaching because I’m able to give back in a way that is enjoyable and a passion for me. It also gives me more time with my boys doing things they enjoy.
