Paradise Grill's Mary Beth Hansen hosted a midsummer car and bike show for The 180 House and the South County Food Pantry. The funds and food were donated. "The number of cars, motorcycles and people that participated was phenomenal," Mary Beth says. "Nokomis, Venice and South Sarasota County are unbelievably generous. We'll do this again in the fall."

Nurses at Venice Regional Bayfront Health were recently honored with DAISY Awards for Extraordinary Nurses, part of the DAISY Foundation's mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. Honorees also receive a sculpture called "A Healer’s Touch," hand-carved by Shona tribe artists in Zimbabwe. The Child Protection Center held its annual Night of Hope and Healing event at the Suncoast Air Center Feb 21. Guests sampled food and libations from local restaurants; participated in silent and live auctions; and bid on items such as a trip to Atlanta for a Braves game, dinner from Bonefish Grill and a cruise. Proceeds went to CPC.
GWIN members met Tuesday, March 5, for their monthly meeting/luncheon held at Allegro Bistro in Venice. A record-breaking 63 business women attended. GWIN founder Judy Braham announced the launch of a new Membership Perks program.
