Members of Smyrna’s Wolfe Adult Recreation Center took a wonderful tour of fascinating places this past August. Some of the highlights include tours of the Thronateeksa Heritage, Science and Discovery Museum, Albany Civil Rights Institute, Flowers Heritage Museum 100 years of Baking Exhibit, the Dillion Candy Factory and the Taste of Thomasville Food Tour.
Chamber members enjoyed an evening mixing with fellow business leaders at dk Gallery for the Cobb Chamber’s July Business After Hours event. Complimentary food and drinks were provided by Carriage House Catering, and talented pianist Christine Rosander provided the backbeat to a great night. OrangeTheory's co-owner Kimberly Fishman has a daughter (Emily) with Rett Syndrome. The Vinings Village Civic Club continued its long tradition of hosting candidate forums before the primary elections. An overflowing crowd attended the forum at the Cochise Club in May to hear presentations by district candidates.
Dermatologist and award-winning photographer Dr. Alan Gardner held an art show in his office showcasing the amazing photographs he's taken all over the world. Many patients and friends shopped for the perfect picture and went home with several prints and gorgeous framed photographs.

Omni Hotels & Resorts and the Atlanta Braves commemorated the opening of the Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta with a ribbon-cutting celebration. The official hotel of the Atlanta Braves is located at The Battery Atlanta, the city’s newest mixed-use complex and home to SunTrust Park, the Coca-Cola Roxy, shopping, dining and office space.
GI Specialists of Georgia recently held an open house and ribbon-cutting at its nnew location in the WellStar Vinings Health Park on Atlanta Road. Cobb County Chamber members, colleagues, neighbors and Vinings Lifestyle readers came out to support the doctors and wish them well.

Christmas at Brawner Hall was held December 15 and featured holiday treats, hay "sleigh" rides, children's activities, Dickens carolers, a Christmas movie and visits with Santa. Admission was one new or gently-used coat, and the event collected approximately 150 coats that were donated to the Smyrna location of MUST Ministries.

Smyrna and the Taylor-Brawner House Foundation held the fourth annual Taylor-Brawner Park with Art fine art exhibit and sale October 6-15 at the Taylor-Brawner House. This annual event included more than two dozen of the region’s most accomplished artists. A popular silent auction was conducted during the opening night reception.
Casper's Friendly Fall Festival had carnival games, inflatables, a hayride, crafts and much more. It was open to children up to 12 years old and their families and took place around the fountain in front of the Smyrna Community Center and on the Veterans Memorial lawn.

For the second time in three years, Smyrna Little League’s Rookie Blue All-Star team has been crowned state champions in the Rookie Baseball Tournament, which was created in 2013 for 7- and 8-year-olds. The Smyrna team won with a final score of 8-2.

The WellStar Foundation raised more than $800,000 during the first private event at The Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre in the Battery Atlanta adjacent to SunTrust Park. The Roxy was transformed into an elegant 600-person ballroom where business leaders and community philanthropists gathered for the annual event benefiting vital trauma services for WellStar Health System.

The City of Smyrna held the 3rd annual Christmas at Brawner. High school volunteers and city employees provided games, crafts, hay rides, cookie decorating, s'mores, balloon twisting, holiday music and train rides to see Santa. Admission was a new or gently used coat to be donated to MUST Ministries.

A+ Pediatric Dentistry of Atlanta worked with Operation Gratitude and the local Legion Posts for their 4th Annual Candy Buyback Costume Party. They collected over 700 lbs of candy which will be sent to troops overseas. Kids exchanged candy for money and were able to party with DJ Willy Wow!
