Bombers for Bones Benefiting IFOPA and Caleb Burgess

Come down to Metzler’s Ranch Park on July 20 and support a great cause by participating in a home run derby and skills competition benefiting the International Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Association. The IFOPA is a nonprofit organization that supports research for the cure and treatments of FOP. It’s also hope for Caleb Burgess, a 13-year-old Raptors baseball player with FOP living right here in Castle Rock. Enjoy baseball-themed food, raffle tickets and more. Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing Class

Join REI on Sunday, July 14, to learn the fundamentals of outdoor rock climbing in this hands-on class. The focus is on building the skills needed to continue your climbing journey, which includes proper belay techniques to keep your fellow climbers protected while they’re off the ground. Tying the necessary knots and rope management will also be covered, and there will be an opportunity to practice basic outdoor climbing techniques, with personalized instruction. REI will provide all of the necessary climbing equipment for this amazing first-time experience. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Downtown Development Authority Receives Award for Festival Park

The Downtown Development Authority of Castle Rock has again received an award for Festival Park, this time from the Colorado Lottery. On July 9, committee chair Greg Boman, a Castle Rock resident and local business owner, accepted the award in conjunction with the Downtown Merchants Association. Expressing sincere accolades for their partnership with the Town of Castle Rock and the amazing things they’ve done together, he thanked Kevin Tilson, Director of Castle Rock Downtown Development; the Downtown Merchants Association; the Honorable Mayor Jason Gray; Jeff Brower; and the wonderful Parks Department.
