1. “For our first Thanksgiving as a married couple, my husband and I were away from family, so we hosted dinner at our apartment. We squeezed into our tiny apartment, and when we went to open a bottle of wine, the pretty bottle we had purchased was cooking wine. Needless to say, we did not impress the crowd.” –Alyson Turner, editorial coordinator, Bowie Lifestyle magazine

2. “Thanksgiving around the dinner table is a much-anticipated holiday of mine. Careful menu planning is critical: For Mom, lemon-raspberry cake with cream cheese frosting; the children, macaroni and cheese; my neighbor and brother, pork-impaired, alternative options required; sister-in-law will want to bring the collard greens; my cousin, allergic to shellfish; If-It-Ain’t-Broke-Don’t-Fix-It Stuffing, a crowd favorite. When I finally set the table with the good china and collapse on the couch, I’m exhausted. Why do slave away well into the night in preparation for this occasion? There’s only one reason: love.” –Dr. Pittman, Pride Dental

3. “I photograph people visiting Santa Claus at the mall, and sometimes they have a ‘bring your pets.’ The funniest was a little pig. He was dressed as Frosty the Snowman with a little hat. He was also very reluctant. Finally, after all of us coaxing the little pig, we got the photo. It was an interesting day to say the least.”  –Ro Moreno, Capture the Moment Photography
