Mixed-Use Development Proposed to Replace Sears at Bowie Town Center

A development report from the city shows more than 360,000 square feet of office space, 1,406 dwelling units and 944,184 feet of retail have been developed at Bowie Town Center. It includes a Macy’s, a Safeway and Best Buy, as well as a Panera Bread and fast-casual restaurant chains. Councilman Michael Esteve said more community conversations about retail in Bowie are needed. The property’s owner, Seritage, LLC, has proposed replacing the former Sears (across the street from City Hall and the police station) with a mixed-use development.
