Five Ways to Give Back to Your Community

Are you looking for ways to give back this holiday season and all year round? There are plenty of volunteer opportunities right in your community that you can get involved with. Lending a helping hand can make all the difference.

1. Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program

In Bowie, there are many residents who have lived here most of their lives. For some, the work of home maintenance can become more difficult with age. The Neighbors Helping Neighbors program connects able-bodied citizens looking to help with neighbors 65 and older. For more information, email nnorris@cityofbowie.org or visit CityOfBowie.org/206/Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors.

2. Prince George’s Animal Management Division

The Animal Services Division has clerical work available for volunteers ages 14 to 17. Volunteers ages 18 and older can apply to walk dogs or monitor a cat room after partaking in a two-hour orientation. For more information, visit PrinceGeorgesCountyMD.gov/2190/Volunteer

3. Rose’s Place

Are you interested in sharing some time and fun with others? Come volunteer at Rose’s Place, an assisted living facility, to help with activities such as bingo, dancing and reading to residents. For more information, visit RosesPlaceSeniorALF.com.
